Call for photos - LTN 1/24 online course 

We are looking for photos of bus stops (good examples and poor examples), bus vehicle priority measures and bus delay issues such as vehicle parked in bus layby. Photos must be taken by or belong to the person who submits it. Please email bcoe@ciht.org.uk to send us your photo(s) and clarify in your email that you are happy for BCoE to use the photo(s). Credit for the image will be provided in the LTN 1/24 CIHT Learn Course so please specify how you would like your details to appear (or if you are happy not to be credited).

General 

  • View of bus lane with segregated cycletrack or lane and quality footway provision (to illustrate multi-modal corridor) 

Bus stop related (All non Red Routes) 

  • Bus stop with controlled signal crossing behind the bus stop 

  • Bus stop with zebra crossing behind the bus stop 

  • Half width bus layby bus stop  

  • Infilled bus stop layby improvement 

  • Ramp deployed on a bus at a bus stop and ideally with wheelchair or powered mobility device 

  • Bus stop shelter with Green roof 

  • Any innovate bus shelters with interesting facilities e.g. defibrillator  

  • Good rural (i.e. no building frontage) bus stop with shelter, lighting and footway for access  

  • Bus stop lighting  - any innovative ideas e.g. solar or PIR 

Poor examples: 

  • Bus stop boarder that is less wide than an adjacent parking bays e.g. showing how wider cars can now block kerb access to a bus boarder if it is not protruding far enough in to the carriageway 

  • Standalone bus stop without any footway access or dropped kerb 

  • Excessive ponding at a bus stop 

  • Narrow footway at bus stop occupied by pedestrians and waiting passengers 

Bus vehicle priority measures 

  • Bus lane allowing other vehicles to use e.g. authorised vehicles / HGVs / HOVs – to include sign 

  • Contra-flow bus lane (non London) 

  • Bus lane bypass with pre-signal 

  • Physically segregated bus lane – i.e. with kerbs or wands 

  • Bus only turns 

Bus delay issues – examples: 

  • Illegally parked vehicle delaying a bus i.e. vehicle on yellow lines 

  • Car reversing in to a parking space delaying a bus 

  • Vehicle parked in a bus layby 

  • Bus lane or bus stop closed by temporary works 

Road wear / damage at a gully in a bus lane
