CIHT’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Community of Interest Group
CIHT’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Community of Interest group has been established as a knowledge sharing network, providing opportunities for knowledge-sharing and collective problem-solving. It is designed for participants who want to actively contribute and collaborate.
The group meets three times during the year at lunchtime (12:00 – 13:00) via a Teams call. The format the sessions take is either a workshop or group / panel discussions, or speaker presentations with a Q&A session.
The group is made up of those currently working in the highways and transportation sector who have an interest in and some level of responsibility for equality, diversity and inclusion within their organisation.
CIHT invites members of the Bus Centre of Excellence to join the group, who fit these criteria and can commit to attending all three sessions.
We ask for this commitment as we aim to establish some consistency of membership within the group to build connections and relationships that will help develop trust within the group for impactful discussions.
During each session, members of the group consider current business and sector priorities and challenges, which they and their organisation are facing, with the aim of forming and developing solutions to help the sector move ahead positively. As members of the group, BCoE members will be invited to present and share case studies.
For 2026, the meetings are scheduled for:
Tues 17 March - From policy to practice; embedding EDI
Tues 16 June - Equity in decision making
Tues 3 November - EDI metrics that drive change
Participation will involve a nominal annual fee to support facilitation, shared resources and structured learning sessions. The cost would be free to those working in the public sector or charity sector and would be £50 a year (for 2026) for everyone else. We believe the value lies not only in shared knowledge, but in the opportunity to shape good practice across the profession.
