With support from Transport for London and Women in Bus and Coach, the Bus KSI Network is excited to invite you to the launch of London’s Bus Safety Standard 2!
The TfL Bus Safety Standard (BSS) is driving change in the bus industry by making buses safer through physical and technology innovation. The BSS was first launched in 2018, with a roadmap setting out vehicle safety requirements for buses in London from 2019, 2021 and 2024. These requirements have now been delivered with buses operating in London meeting these enhanced safety requirements and the Bus KSI Network is delighted to be able to showcase these buses with live demonstrations at UTAC Millbrook.
You will be able to see and experience features such as Camera Monitoring Systems, Intelligent Speed Assistance, Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems, new front-end geometry, Advanced Emergency Braking for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, occupant-friendly interiors and so much more!
We will have keynote speakers (TBC) and presentations on a range of bus safety measures. Alongside live demonstrations you will be able to engage with the team at Transport for London through showcase stands on the new BSS2 which will be required on London’s bus fleet from 2027, 2030 and 2033. The new roadmap for the future of the Bus Safety Standard includes highlights such as an inclusive and ergonomic cab design, driver fatigue and distraction prevention, enhanced customer safety grounded in behavioural science, and bridge strike prevention.
This event brings together safety and bus professionals for collaboration, discussion and networking. You will join colleagues from across the transport industry in the UK and internationally, including bus OEMs, bus operators, public transport authorities, national and local government, passenger and safety stakeholder groups, union representatives, and drivers.
Join us to learn more about the innovations in bus safety and how you can apply these to your work!
