Publication of Data and Methodology Underpinning
the Connectivity Tool

The Department for Transport is delighted to announce that the data and methodology underpinning the Connectivity Tool has now been published.

The guidance published sets out the methodology underpinning the Connectivity Tool. The Tool generates a connectivity metric that measures someone’s ability to get where they want to go. The metric measures opportunity to access various destinations, weighted by people’s overall willingness to travel. 

 It is publicly available and can be accessed by anyone, regardless of whether they currently have access to the Connectivity Tool itself.  

 We are also pleased to confirm that work is currently underway to broaden access to the Tool. Further details will be provided in due course.
